Big Sky was opened in May 2010 by sisters Kim White and Karen Sheehy.
The two old birds finally came to roost in Great Missenden High Street, with its mix of small independent retailers and the wonderful Roald Dahl Museum.
Having worked together for 22 years in retail, we decided to follow our hearts by running a shop that reflected Karen’s love of gathering interesting and quirky items for the home and Kim’s passion for the garden and so Big Sky evolved as an eclectic mix of beautiful objets for inside and out.
When asked what we stock in our shop the reply is often “everything you don’t need”.
We may not need most of the beautiful items that we sell but life would be very dull without them. Being able to cast your eyes on lots of “lovely” brightens your
day and gladdens the heart. Whether it’s a simple sea shell or some hand printed English linen, all give pleasure and enhance our surroundings.
Our stock is constantly changing, as we love hunting for new items and finding new suppliers to top up the shelves. Just look at the gallery page to see some of the products available.

What a joyful experience we had visiting your shop today, so full of lovely items to beautify our home. Along with a lovely chat with one of the owners, sorry forgot to ask if you were Karen or Kim. We will definitely visit more often.
I love visiting Big Sky whenever I am in Great Missenden. There is always something new and interesting to see. Karen and Kim have a good eye for laying out the shop and windows. Both of them are very friendly and welcoming.
Beautiful shop packed with items I’ve not seen elsewhere! The Sting in the Tail camomile and honey soap smells amazing! Lingers on my skin, definitely need to stock up!
I miss popping in to your beautiful shop, always finding beautiful things to give to friends or myself. It’s been a year since we moved back to the US and every time I see one of the lovely ceramics or lamps I purchased at your shop I kick myself for not having purchased more while we lived in Great Missenden. That last day I popped in right before taking the train was dangerous, I almost had to bring back the extras on my head, the suitcases were bursting. Hope everyone is well and stays well. We miss you!

Discovered the glorious Big Sky by chance today when we met friends for lunch (Great Missenden turned out to be half way between us.) What a find! I love this type of shop but I don’t think I’ve ever seen better. What clever buyers these super-friendly owners are.
There were so many utterly gorgeous things, from throws and lamps to candles and coasters, many of which I’d never seen before. What a treat! And the artificial flowers were AMAZING. Great prices for such good quality.
I live an hour away but I really would make a special trip to Big Sky. One of the owners told me she thought they were just very lucky to get it right. It seems to me they’re just very, very good at what they do.

This shop is my Mecca for all the things I don’t need but fall head over heels in love with. Kim and Karen’s exquisite taste makes every visit a sure fire spend-fest. My home boasts so many beautiful pieces that I’ve collected from them over the years and I treasure them all.
I send anybody who comes for a visit off to visit the girls and tell them that they will want to buy something !!! Karen and Kim are so special and make everyone that walks through their door feel special – we are lucky that they opened their lovely shop here in Great Missenden.

The most beautiful vintage shop I have ever come across! I bought a beautiful glass vase and candle holder here last week and I’m going back this week! Such gorgeous addictive items! I want to buy everything! Run by the most friendliest ladies too! My favourite shop ever!

Came across this little gem of a shop when we took our campervan away overnight. Kim and Karen we so welcoming and arranged the beautiful quality flowers perfectly in our new vase!! Thank you very much and the packaging helped it survive the journey!! X
